Based on the popular children’s cartoon, Peppa Pig Theme Park is the first standalone theme park in the world that is dedicated solely to Peppa Pig and her friends.
In late 2020, Barton Malow led the Design-Build construction of this new and iconic entertainment attraction. Located just steps from the entrance to LEGOLAND® Florida, in Winter Haven, the new park features inclusive attractions where families can come to create everlasting memories.
Peppa Pig Theme Park is an immersive experience that provides guests with a fun, all-day experience in the world of Peppa and her friends. The scope of work included the construction of an exciting standalone park with six new rides and attractions designed especially for preschoolers, as well as lots of play spaces, shows, restaurants, splash pads, additional attractions, and character meet and greets.
In addition to all the outdoor spaces, the queue line to the roller coaster takes you through a life-size model of Peppa’s House. The main building contains a diner, theatre, restrooms, a retail store, and multiple back-of-house spaces. The park was designed with wheelchair accessibility in mind. The balloon ride has a unique basket that allows children to roll directly onto the ride without transferring. The splash pad and play area also have been developed with wheelchair accessibility in mind.
Peppa Pig Theme Park also received its Autism Center certification from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards. The park is aligned with critical components of maintaining an autism-friendly environment, which signifies the park’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and acceptance.
The project’s success was not just measured by opening on time or keeping cost exposures in check. The success was knowing the team worked well together and could be seen by every smiling face of the park goers on opening day.
Peppa Pig Theme Park earned a 2022 Design-Build Institute of America Florida Region Merit Award in the Civic/Assembly category, an accolade that recognizes it among the nation’s best design-build projects, and a 2022 Excellence in Construction Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors Central Florida Chapter.
