The project called for the construction of an addition to house the Michigan State University (MSU) Basketball Hall of History. Located on the southeast side of the Breslin Center, the hall utilizes technology to highlight team and individual accomplishments of the men’s and women’s basketball programs. In addition, the technology has the flexibility to be programmed for other university events.
The project included expanding and improving the Breslin Center’s concession areas and concourses, improving bathroom facilities, upgrading passenger and freight elevators, and improving the exterior entrances. We also replaced broken fixtures/doors and upgraded the loading dock.
Barton Malow’s rigging crews were also brought on to relocate the 84-ton Magic Johnson statue and its foundation roughly 70 feet outside the Breslin Center.
Late add-on projects also completed in this timeframe included the parking lot, men’s basketball locker room, arena glass railing, and practice court floor replacement. We continued our great relationship with MSU by maintaining quality expectations, meeting safety goals, and assisting with owner-procured subcontracts wherever needed.
