Barton Malow provided general contracting services for the interior commercial build-out for the popular and ever-growing Bark & Co., creating a new dog-friendly workspace in the Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. Beginning as an empty shell of commercial space, the interiors were transformed into an extremely unique workplace for both humans and dogs over the course of six months of construction. The space acts as a call center for Bark & Co., which specializes in products such as BarkBox – a monthly themed box containing a variety of dog treats and toys delivered right to your door.
Barton Malow provided services that included metal studs, drywall acoustical ceilings, casework, new lighting, new mechanical and new fire suppression systems. High-end fixtures shipped from multiple countries provided a unique challenge for this project in terms of scheduling and coordination. Barton Malow developed a detailed coordination plan that the team reviewed on a weekly basis during on-site owner, architect, and contractor meetings. These meetings provided regular updates regarding individual product delivery schedules, installation schedules, and any unforeseen circumstances that may have arisen since the previous meeting.
All parties were involved in real-time schedule updates of the product delivery and install taking place on-site. Through this collaborative effort, the team successfully tackled the project’s unique coordination challenges.
