On Saturday, July 17, several southeast Michigan-based Barton Malow team members volunteered at the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) annual Big Dig event at the Operating Engineers (OE) 324 Training Facility in Howell, Michigan, raising $75,000 for pediatric cancer research.
Co-chaired by Barton Malow Chairman Doug Maibach and OE Local 324 Director Lee Graham, the event welcomed over 70 volunteers and more than 200 children and their families for a day full of fundraising and construction fun. Barton Malow Self Perform team members and other volunteers taught the kids how to operate about 40 pieces of construction equipment, including excavators, backhoes, concrete pumps, pile drivers, and more.
Over the past three years, the event has doubled its fundraising amount and is now one of the country’s largest ACS Big Dig events. To learn more about the event, visit fox2detroit.com or acsglsem.ejoinme.org/BigDigMichigan.
