Building Communities
In 2014, the Barton Malow Foundation began to expand its role in the Family of Companies and its presence in the community with a number of new charitable initiatives. That year, the Foundation hosted its first Building Communities Golf Classic fundraiser, raising almost $250,000 with the generous support of Barton Malow’s partners, subcontractors, and suppliers. The annual Michigan Building Communities Golf Classic is now a highly-anticipated, sold-out event.
To further increase charitable giving across the country, Foundation fundraisers also take place in Baltimore, Maryland, Richmond, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida.
At the end of 2014, the Foundation rolled out the Build Your Community Team Member Giving/Match campaign in which team members were given the opportunity to contribute to the Foundation via payroll deduction. Their contributions were then available for them to donate — plus a dollar-for-dollar match from the Foundation — to the charitable organization of their choice. This program continues to grow and has increased our team member giving to more than 100 causes that matter to them.
Community Week
In addition to our financial contributions, our team members donate their service and time as generous and compassionate community members where they work, live, and play. Our Community Week takes place the first week in August and gives all team members a chance to spend a day supporting various charitable organizations at more than 100 different pre-planned volunteer activities across the Family of Companies and country.
The Barton Malow Foundation’s 2020 Community Week was awarded the AGC in the Community Award by the Associated General Contractors of America for its focus on virtual volunteer opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the fourth time Barton Malow has earned the AGC in the Community Award.
