Oldest GM Assembly Plant in US Gets $900M Investment in Flint
UAW Region 1-D Director Gerald Kariem says, "It's great day. It's a great day. It's a great day. GM is making a powerball-type investment in Flint."
A plant that's produced more than 13 million vehicles, is about to make millions more.
General Motors starts construction on the new GM Flint Assembly Body Shop. The $900 million project kicked off with an opportunity to see renderings of the future body shop.
The plant was built in 1947 and it employs more than 2,800 workers.
Media and guests heard about the vision for the site and GM Flint complex from GM and UAW leadership, as well as witness the pouring of the body shop's foundation.
