The Rymfire Elementary School project is a 160,000 SF, 5-building, tilt-wall project on the northeast coast of Florida. Incorporating tilt-wall construction allows the facility to serve as an emergency hurricane shelter for the surrounding community. The building is a structurally enhanced emergency shelter (160 MPH wind and debris) with full stand-by electrical generator capacity and 2000 gallon emergency water tank. It also features emergency shuttered windows throughout that are capable of withstanding large missile impact in excess of 150 MPH. The shutters provide solar shading and are vandal resistant.
The facility contains 900 student stations; 68 classrooms including art and music suites; media center with storage for 10,000 volumes; smart classrooms with wireless data connection in each classroom; fully-enclosed play area; full kitchen/cafeteria; individual heat pumps serving each classroom allow system to be serviced without disabling entire school; controlled ingress/egress for after hours use by community; and fully monitored CCTV security.
