BUILDING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

Sun Trust Park Home of the Atlanta Braves

Following the end of the lease at Turner field the Atlanta Braves will open the 2017 season in a new home in Cobb County. This state of the art stadium will be designed by Populous and feature the Construction Management team of: Brassfield & Gorrie, Mortenson, Barton Malow, and New South. American Builders 2017 is a joint venture partnership that prides itself on American owned companies that have a combined 350+ sports and entertainment venue spaces.

The new stadium is set to have 41,500 seats and have a more intimate configuration, placing a higher percentage of seats closer to the field than any other ballpark in Major League Baseball. A 90-foot roof will be erected – three times the size of the current roof at Turner Field and air conditioning on every level will make sure the majority of fans are cool on hot summer days.

In addition, a spacious boulevard along the arena will allow visitors and residents to take advantage of the many restaurants and shops all year around. Roads will be inside the community, but some will be blocked off to provide a more walkable environment for fans heading into the games. The team plans to open the first phase of its surrounding mixed-use project, a blend of bars, shops, restaurants, office space, hotels and residences, in 2017 with full completion slated for 2019. The stadium plans to ready for Opening Day in 2017.

“There's a difference when you work with a family-owned company. It's a lot like how we grew up - you learn by what you see around you. Hard work, dedication, encouragement, doing the right thing & treating others as you want to be treated. I believe that's what make Barton Malow's culture different from our competition.”
